Theresa’s Sound World Music Blog Collection Highly original and sophisticated marriage of ukelele and bass! Tunes like 'Running over pebbles' and 'the Wend' have a nice experimental feel to them & even sound a bit Mandolin-esque. 'Uke Jam' weaves from a Roy Budd Get Carter style tune to bass thumps that puts me in mind of more art-rock Sonic Youthy textures. Then you have easy-going numbers like 'Felt' and 'Jacob's Ladder' which both sound familiar, but then uncover more discordant flavours which challenge the ears. This whole album is highly listenable & infectious. If you thought the ukelele was just for playing twee versions of Radiohead tunes, listen to The Wend and think again!

about

Matt Stead & Rob Ash Ross On Wye, UK

These are the songs that made me fall in love with the music of Hawaii. By day I read about the lives and music of the greats like Gabby Pahinui and Eddie Kamae. At night I sing these songs in my dreams, the music permeating my very being. This is my little tribute and thank you to the Islands of Hawaii and beyond, from my own Island of Great
Britain.
